TVS Jupiter
O yeah, Jupiter Grande is a better option than the old Jupiter which in turn is better than the Honda Activa. This one gets a semi-digital instrument cluster and some eye-catching color options. The Grande is powered by a 110 cc single cylinder engine which pumps out 7.8 bhp and 8 Nm torque for city commuting. It returns a healthy 50 kmpl mileage when ridden in Eco mode.
The drum variant is priced at Rs 56,000 ex-showroom Delhi and Disc variant, on the other hand, is priced at Rs 59,900 ex-showroom Delhi. Wait, you can get Ntorq at this price, do make your choice wisely.
Hero Destini 125
Hero MotoCorp is good at making commuter bikes and scooters. Here comes the Destini 125, basically a Duet with 125 cc engine though. It is powered by a butter smooth 125 cc engine which is good for 8.7 bhp and 10.2 Nm torque. the power figures itself says that this is way better than those 110 cc scooters we see today.
The Destini gets Hero’s acclaimed i3S technology which shut down the engine when idling for more than 5 seconds. At the end of the day, this tech will help you in saving some fuel. Best Scooters in India – Best Premium Scooters
After the commuter segment, come the premium scooters. This segment is mostly powered by 125 cc engines. The premium scooters come with premium design as well as features. Let’s talk about the premium commuter scooters in India.
Suzuki Burgman Street 125
Smooth to ride, comfortable to sit, the maxi scooter from the house of Suzuki is Burgman Street 125. This premium offering of the Japanese brand is a feast to the eyes and believe me, it is an attention-grabbing machine. The scooter features LED headlights, Disc brake at the front, fully-digital instrument cluster and much more.
Powering Burgman Street is a 124 cc engine. The motor belts out 8.6 bhp and 10.2 Nm torque which offers optimum street performance. For its big size, the weight of this scooter is surprisingly low at just 108 Kg. The price is a bit on the higher side at Rs 68,600 ex-showroom Delhi.
Vespa VXL 125
One of the most premium of the lot is Vespa VXL 125. This scooter comes in Premium, it was a little difficult to decide where to place this one. Premium segment it is, I have another one in the Classic category. Vespa VXL 125 is powered by a 125 cc engine which puts out 9.9 bhp at 7500 rpm and 10.6 Nm torque which peaks out at 6000 rpm.
The Vespa offers a quick performance of the line as well as in the midrange. Speaking about the price, it’s going to tear your pockets apart, it is priced at Rs 88,000 ex-showroom Delhi.

Believe it or not, the basic design of all the scooters are based on the design of 1960s Vespa Scooter. Not getting what I’m saying? Look at all of them. TVS Jupiter Classic
Oh, we have one more TVS on this list. See, I have already told you about the Jupiter Grande and this Jupiter Classic is just cosmetically different than its sibling. The Classic version of Jupiter is pure eye-catching. The scooter gets the beige color option and seats look good in dual tone brown color. There is a visor too, for wind defection of course.
A small pillion backrest is also given, the rear view mirrors are painted in chrome. The instrument console in the Classic Jupiter is all retro, overall the scooter has a mix of modern powertrain and retro looks. The price of Classic Jupiter is Rs 58,000 ex-showroom Delhi.

Vespa SXL 150
How does it look? Awesome right. This Vespa SXL 150 is the most expensive scooter, save for Vespa Elegance 150, available in the Indian market. SXL 150 derives its power from a 150 cc, 3-valve engine. The motor churns out 11.4 bhp @7000 rpm and 11.5 Nm torque at 5500 rpm. This Vespa gets a rectangular headlight which makes it stand apart from the crowd.
The scooter is high on performance and achieves a top speed more than 100 kmph. 110 section front tyre and 120 section rear tyre offer brilliant grip on the tarmac. The base variant of SXL 150 is priced at Rs 99,500 and the ABS variant is priced similar to Pulsar 220F ABS’s price of Rs 1.05 Lakh. Both prices are ex-showroom Delhi.

TVS NTorq 125
TVS Ntorq looks great and it sure has the road presence too. It is a sporty scooter which is powered by a 125 cc engine, 3-valve engine. The powerplant makes respectable 9.1 bhp @7500 rpm and 10.5 Nm of twisting force at 5500 rpm. Scooter gets telescopic forks and monoshock at the rear. Both the wheels are 12-inch in diameter. the scooter rides on a 100 section tyre at the front and a fat 110 section tyre at the rear.
The CVT-i transmission takes the scooter all the way to its top speed of 95 kmph. The Ntorq is so good in terms of performance that TVS already sold more than 2 Lakh units of the same. The Scooter carries a price tag of Rs 59,900 ex-showroom Delhi.

Aprilia SR 150
Wanna Race? Aprilia SR150 is one such scooter which makes even the 150 cc commuter bikes to taste the dust behind it. Yeah, it’s faster than most of them. Powering this beast of a scooter is a 150cc 3-valve, single cylinder engine. The motor belts out 10.25 bhp @6750 rpm and 11.4 Nm torque at 5000 rpm.
Larger 14-inch wheels and streamlined design lets the scooter to achieve a speedo-indicated top speed of 120 kmph. SR150 is priced at Rs 76,000 for Carbon variant and Rs 83,000 for the ABS-equipped variant.
Yamaha Ray Rally
Yamaha Ray Rally Edition might be just a 110 cc scooter and also the least powered one but the design of this scooter is so impressive, it looks fast even when standing still.
The Rally Edition scooter is powered by a 113 cc single cylinder engine. The powerplant pumps out 7.1 bhp and 8.1 Nm torque. Due to its light 103 kg weight, the scooter is fun to ride and handles well.

Yeah, I know that that’s the reason I listed this category in the bottom. So that you guys also look at other categories too. Enough joking, let’s see which scooter deliver best fuel economy.
TVS Scooty Pep Plus
This little scooter which is called ‘Scooty’ on whose name every other scooter in India is referred to as Scooties. The TVS Pep Plus is powered by an 88 cc air-cooled, single cylinder engine which delivers puny 5 bhp @6500 rpm and 6 Nm torque @4000 rpm.
The small engine enables the scooter to deliver ARAI certified 68 kmpl fuel economy. And believe me guys this is the most fuel efficient scooter in the country.
Honda Activa i
Honda has one more scooter which is cheaper than Dio and more expensive than the CliQ. Priced at Rs 50,548 ex-showroom Delhi, The Activa i is claimed to deliver a fuel efficiency of 66 kmpl. The lightweight scooter is tuned to deliver more mileage but also compromises a bit on the performance front.
