India Yamaha Motor today introduced the new version of Yamaha MT-09
Yamaha MT-09: Yamaha has launched its updated MT-09 at India at Rs 10.88 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It is about Rs 48,000 less costly than its predecessor although the new street fighter is still a CBU import.
The new MT-09 receives the exact same changes that were seen on the version that was showcased in Germany, at the past year’s Intermot motor show. It now gets new fins for the radiator LED lights, air scoops that are bigger and rearview mirrors. The fender is mounted on the swingarm and the tail-lamp has been incorporated into the body. The sub-frame is currently 30mm shorter at the trunk.
The Japanese manufacturer has tweaked suspension for better damping, set up a shifter for its six-speed transmission, added an assist and slip clutch and set in a chair. The 847cc, three-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor, which develops 115hp and 87.5Nm of peak torque stay unchanged.
The MT-09 is available in Deep Purplish Blue, Bluish Gray Solid, 3 choices, and Matte Dark Gray. It’s, in fact, more expensive than even the recently-launched, 123hp, Triumph Street Triple RS, that will be priced at Rs 10.55 lakh (all costs, ex-showroom, Delhi). While the MT-09 has considerable merit to justify a purchase, its price tag will present a challenge to its sales performance.
