Bajaj Auto along with KTM has unveiled the Husqvarna motorcycles in India Bike Week 2019. Previously, it was anticipated that Husqvarna bikes will come with 390 Duke sourced 373cc engine but it came to a surprise that the company will the launch 250cc version of the bikes initially. The 250cc bikes look similar to their 401 counterparts but are equipped with alloy wheels instead of spoke wheels as seen in the international markets. Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 is a scrambler styled naked bike whereas the Vitpilen 250 is a naked cafe racer with lower positioned clip-on bars. Both the bikes will carry a premium over the KTM 250 Duke which is on sale in the country.

Powering the new Husqvarna bikes is a BS6 compliant, liquid-cooled, 248.8cc single-cylinder engine from the Duke 250. This powerplant pumps out 30bhp and 24Nm torque and is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Expect the performance of these motorcycles similar to that of the KTM 250 Duke. Both the bikes have a similar dry weight of about 153 kg.

For the Indian version, the 17-inch alloy wheels will be fitted with MRF tyres to keep the initial cost in check. Rest of the components like brake and suspension will be a straight lift from the KTM bikes.

Speaking about the price, Husqvarna will be price anywhere Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 more than the Duke 250. The BS6 version of the 250 Duke will be priced around Rs 2.10 lakh and hence Husqvarna’s pricing to start from R 2.25 lakh ex-showroom. Bajaj will launch the bikes in February 2020 and deliveries to start in the same month.
