KTM silently launched RC 200 with single-channel ABS in India at Rs 1.88 Lakh
It came out of no-where but yes you heard it right, KTM RC 200 is now available with ABS. In order to comply with upcoming safety norms, KTM updated its sports bike with ABS. The negative side of this is that the ABS is single-channel as seen on the Duke 200. The updated version is priced at Rs 1.88 Lakh ex-showroom. This is about Rs 9000 more than the non-ABS version.
There are no other changes made to the bike other than the addition of single-channel ABS. KTM RC 200 is the most powerful motorcycle in its segment. It derives its power from 199 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine. The fuel injected engine is good for 25.8 bhp and 19.2 Nm of torque. The Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 which is a spiritual successor of RC 200 pumps out 24.4 bhp and weigh more than KTM RC 200.

Front wheel and tyre are under the custody of 43 mm USD forks. At the rear though is a preload-adjustable monoshock. Performance wise speaking, RC 200 hits a ton in around 10 seconds and has a top speed of 140 kmph. Speaking about the fuel efficiency, KTM RC 200 will return a meager 30 kmpl.
The booking of KTM RC 200 has already begun across the country. Deliveries, on the other hand, depends upon the fresh stock of ABS equipped bikes. Few dealers at metro cities have received the stock of ABS version and will sell the non-ABS version until the old stock lasts.
Unfortunately, there is no way you can retro-fit ABS on a non-ABS bike. This is because ABS is not just any other system which you can plug and play. ABS system requires proper calibration for optimum braking performance. If anyone claims to retro-fit ABS system on a non-ABS bike, it could most probably be a sham or it might not prevent locking of wheels under hard braking.
