JOIN THE ADVENTURE
Honda is always known for its best either a four wheeler or a two wheeler, quality defines its luxury. After a long wait Honda launches its new Honda Africa twin that will amaze and leave you wondering whenever you will pick an adventure ride with her. The 2016 CRF1000L Africa Twin is a big return to the market of adventure sports after the BMW R1200GS.
The Africa twin is powered by all new 998cc parallel twin engine which uses the same four-valve Unicam head design as that of its competitiors(the CRF250 and CRF450) for smooth and traceable power. Twin is offering you with either a six speed manual gearbox or a all new DCT transmission with selectable on- and off-road modes. The project was initiated with two words which was designed in brief- GO ANYWHERE. Its high ground clearance along with the reasonable seat height and mass centralization added up to parallel twin, since a V-tin would be too long.
From Honda’s owner Mr. Y. Hasegawa, series large project leader of the Africa Twin said:
We wanted to create a full-scale true adventure motorcycle that was equally enjoyable and capable in crossing vast continents as it was on the highway and in everyday use.
Our CRF1000L (the fancy name for the Africa Twin) has off-road ability that makes dirt roads a joy to tackle, with the comfort of a tourer and agility of a commuter. In other words, a model truly worthy of inheriting the Africa Twin name.
Africa Twin is available in two versions, both versions have ABS standard with rear ABS on/off and Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) so there’s no fishing around in electronic menus to select the desired settings.
The motor makes a claimed 93.8 horsepower at 7,500 rpm and 72.3 foot-pounds of torque at 6,000 rpm which is impressive enough but more than enough for being a ADV bike. Africa Twin comes with a wet weight of 510 pounds for the manual or 533 pounds for the DCT. Seat height is 34.2 inches, but can be lowered to 33.4 inches.
Available in three colors: CRF Rally, Tricolour and Black.
Price: $12,999 for the base model and $13,699 for the DCT version. it’s cheaper and better than all the those option in the dirt.
